Here are 4 fun ideas to sprinkle a little fun in the office and encourage extra team bonding…
Have a marshmallow tasting competition
this works a real treat for a quick indoors team building lunchbreak in the office; as an ice breaker at the start of a corporate event or training workshop; it’s easy enough that you can take it with you on a corporate day out too. It’s so much fun. You can play it against the clock (taste and guess correctly as many flavours as possible in a minute). Or as an individual or team quizz. I offer marshmallow tasting (and making) as part of the team building experiences I run, including quizz cards and a whole range of flavours from classic vanilla, a range of fruits, chocolate, ginger, mint. but also more quirky ones like marmite, beer, peanut butter and jam…..It’s a lot of fun and you can make it tricker by lightly colouring the mallows in a colour not related to their flavour, to throw a little confusion in! If you don’t want to go to the length of ordering bespoke mallows, why not grab a bag or 2 of plain ones, and stuff them with little chocolate buttons, dried fruits, ….and get people to guess the fillings.
Have a chocolate chess tournament
or just 1 game, with people in 2 teams playing 1 move in turn. Same rules as regular chess…only the pieces are in chocolate…and you either get to eat the pieces you take; or the winning team get given a brand new set of chocolate chess pieces. A bit like this bespoke creation I made as a very special birthday cake last year, with a complete set of chess pieces all hand casted in Belgian white and dark chocolate.
Go out for a Bake Off experience
from buttercream pipping a collection of floral mini cakes to putting together a complete Afternoon Tea of miniature cakes, dainty sandwiches and decorated chocolates, or assembling a gingerbread 3D structure, a day away from the office, working in teams on something that might be completely out of their daily environment might be just what your workforce needs to get some “va va voom” back into them. I work with Goodwood Estate at The Goodwood Hotel to deliver just this, in a beautiful part of Sussex. If you are not sure where best to take your team, you can always enroll the services of an event planner to help you, like Maximise Your Time – a very experienced company established in 1999, which operates across the UK and on international events too.
It’s often the little things that count
Very simply, add a little fun by making the day start a little diffently- with sweet individual goodie bags, like those “breakfast eggs” – which are in fact a biscuit with vanilla icing and orange juice flavour yolk, accompanied by mini “egg club sandwiches” – a lemon sponge with lemon curd and lemon buttercream. Bound to inject some fun in the office!
