Is Pudding Fairy an accredited business?
Yes, Pudding Fairy is fully registered with Horsham Council, with a top food hygiene rating of 5 out of 5.
Where do you deliver?
I deliver mostly to West Sussex, East Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire. However, some of my cakes have travelled further in the UK, down to Cornwall and up to London and the NEC in Birmingham. My cakes, even chocolate ones, have also been delivered to Wales, Scotland, France and even Spain. I have food grade insulated polysterene boxes I can supply for long journeys.
Can you cater for gluten/dairy/lactose/nuts intolerances and allergies?
I can and I do on a regular basis: From cakes using gluten free flour to alternatives like ground almonds; mild olive oil or coconut cream instead of butter. For example, I made a “Tiffany” look alike cake presented in a pure turquoise blue chocolate box, all hand made. The cake itself needed to be gluten and dairy free: I opted for a chocolate genoese sponge with gluten free flour, filled with fresh raspberries and a French dark chocolate mousse, only made with eggs and dark chocolate. No cream at all.
I always check carefully with each of my client whether the cake I will make needs to take into account any taste preferences, intolerances or allergies restrictions.
What's your delivery charge?
I deliver free of charge locally as standard, within 10 miles of my kitchen. Beyond this distance, I charge return mileage at 45p per mile. For deliveries beyond Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey, I use dedicated food courriers. I would secure a delivery quote for you prior to confirming your order.
Do you offer cake tastings?
I am more than happy to offer a cake tasting for wedding cakes and large celebration cakes (minimum order value of £150).
I open cake tastings dates a couple of times a month. For customers who have already booked their cake, the tasting is free (locally) for 2 people. For customers who prefer to have the tasting before deciding whether to ask Pudding Fairy to create their cake, I request a £25 contribution towards it, payable in advance, by BACS. (invoice attached with payment details in case you need it). If hopefully you choose me to make your cake, I deduct the cost of the tasting from your final invoice.
How much notice do you need to create a cake?
I kindly request a minimum of 10 days notice for celebration cakes, 6 weeks for wedding cakes. I take limited amount of commissions at the time. Please be aware that some peak months get booked up sometimes a year in advance. If you want to order at shorter notice, please call me rather than email me – if I can help, I certainly will!
Booking confirmation and cancellations
I kindly request a 50% deposit to secure your order. This is non refundable unless under exceptional circumstances I will be the sole judge of. The balance of your order is payable no later than 2 weeks before your delivery date. I accept payments by cash and BACS (internet banking transfer). I don’t accept cheques.
How much are your cakes?
It really depends on what you want. As a general guideline, my minimum order is £40 excluding delivery costs. I can create cakes from £2.50 each for individual cakes, and from £3.00 per portion for larger cakes.
